Did you know that in a single hour, the amount of power from the sun that strikes the Earth is more than the entire world consumes in a year? The quality and efficiency of the materials used in solar systems have improved in recent years, but solar energy systems still use the same basic process where Photovoltaic (PV) cells convert sunlight into Direct Current (DC) electricity.

How Solar Works

Solar panels convert sunlight to DC electricity. The inverter on each panel converts electricity from DC to AC.

Your system can monitor how much power it’s producing using a device that can be placed outside of your home for easy access.

A solar subpanel carries the AC current into your home to use.

Excess electricity is fed back into the grid and credited to you for future use.

An energy storage system (ESS) or battery system can also be installed with your solar to operate lights, refrigerators, etc., during a planned or emergency outage.
