At Renova Energy, we’ve long believed that beyond being a smart energy solution, solar power is part of what defines California.
That’s why we’re glad to see Assembly Bill 1334 proposing to make solar energy the official state energy of California—a bill that Renova Energy introduced and co-authored!
It’s a move that is both symbolic and significant. California is known around the world for its abundant sunshine, and for decades, that sunshine has fueled our lifestyles and powered innovation. From early solar water heating systems in the 1920s to major milestones like the Million Solar Roofs Initiative and utility-scale projects like Ivanpah and Solar Star, our state has consistently led the way in solar development.
Today, California boasts over 2 million solar rooftops and canopies, and solar energy accounts for more than 30% of the state’s electricity generation. That’s a remarkable achievement—and one we’re proud to be part of. At Renova, we’ve dedicated ourselves to helping over 12,000 homeowners and businesses harness the power of the sun for a cleaner, more affordable, and more resilient energy future.
AB 1334 highlights both our state’s leadership in renewable energy and the role solar plays in California’s culture, economy, and identity. It’s a recognition of the values that solar energy represents: sustainability, innovation, and accessibility.
As a company deeply rooted in California’s renewable energy movement, we wholeheartedly support this legislation. Solar energy is not just the future, but it’s already a cornerstone of our present. Making it the official state energy simply makes sense.
We’ll be watching AB 1334 closely—and cheering it on. Feel free to join us by calling your representatives and keeping an eye out for the bill as it continues moving through the legislature!
