Unlike older setups that force homeowners to pick and choose which appliances stay on, the backup switch enables whole-home backup power—meaning everything from your refrigerator to your Wi-Fi router stays up and running. With the Tesla Backup Switch and Tesla Powerwall 3, your home transforms into a reliable, self-sustaining energy hub, ensuring you stay comfortable and connected—even during grid outages.

For our installation teams, the Tesla Backup Switch is a game-changer. It cuts installation time by 75%, reducing the need for extra materials and streamlining the entire process. Faster installations mean a smoother experience for homeowners and a quicker path to energy independence.
Currently, the Tesla Backup Switch is available for homes within SCE territory with 200-amp electrical panels or less. We’re rolling out the first two backup switches in Palm Desert and Palm Springs, and after two months of approvals, these projects are finally ready to move forward!
